How to create a new suborganization in EVO

Creating a suborganization in EVO allows you to group and manage users with specific access rights to a portion of your meters. This function requires administrator privileges. This function requires administrator privileges and is ideal for granting a customer, a specific department, or an individual user access to selected meters without giving them access to your entire organization.

Step 1: Prepare a selection

Before you can create a suborganization, you must first create a selection that defines which sites the new suborganization should have access to. It's important to note that to be able to share a selection with another organization, the selection must be based solely on facilitys, and not on other filters like city or meter type.

If you need guidance on how to create a selection, see our guide on Creating and managing selections in Elvaco Evo.

Step 2: Go to the admin view

Click the grid icon in the top-right corner and then select Admin.

Step 3: Add a new suborganization

In the left-hand menu of the Admin view, click Organizations and then Add organization.

Step 4: Fill in the details and save

Fill out the form for the new suborganization. Make sure you:

  • Give the suborganization a name in the Organization name field.
  • Select your own main organization in the Main organization field to enable the selection field.
  • In the Selection field, choose the selection you created in Step 1. This links the suborganization to the specific sites included in the selection.

Additionally, you can manage the following settings:

  • Enable MFA: Turn on the toggle to enable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for the new organization. When MFA is enabled, a security code is sent to the user's email upon login. This setting applies to all users within the organization.
  • Can create other organizations: This option is only relevant when creating a standalone main organization, which is done by resellers. For suborganizations, this setting should remain off.

Once you have filled in all the information, click Save to complete the process. The new suborganization is now created and can be used to give users limited access.
