Installation

DIN-rail mounting

The product is mounted on a DIN-rail. The clip on the bottom is used to attach and detach the product from the DIN-rail. For safety reasons, a DIN-rail enclosure must cover all terminals.

Installing the SIM card

A SIM card will have to be installed in the CMe2100 for it to use the mobile network.

  1. Get a SIM card of standard size.

If a prepaid SIM card is used, make sure that it has enough credit to be able to respond to SMS commands.

  2. Gently press the SIM card into the SIM card holder with the chip facing right.

Note

The SIM card must have 2G/3G/LTE internet access activated for full functionality.

Note

The SIM card shall not have any PIN code activated.

Connecting the power supply

  1. Connect the main power supply to the screw terminals, power supply L and power supply N. Main supply voltage should be in the range of 100-240 VAC, 50/60 Hz.

  2. Connect the power supply to a clearly marked, easily accessible switch to ensure the product can be switched off during maintenance or service work.

Warning

The installation must be performed by a qualified electrician or another professional with the required knowledge.

Caution

The power supply must be protected with a 10 A circuit breaker of characteristics C or slow blow fuse.

M-Bus terminal

M-Bus is a multi-drop 2-wire system with no polarity. The M-Bus terminal on the CMe2100 can connect up to 8 M-bus meters (CMe2100 G3) or 16 meters (CMe2100 LTE). The capacity can be extended to up to 128 meters (CMe2100 G3) or 256 meters(CMe2100 LTE) by using a M-Bus extender from the Elvaco product portfolio. Use a cable of cross-sectional area 0.25-1.5 mm2, for example a standard telephone cable (EKKX 2x2x0.5), to connect the meters to the M-Bus terminal.

Warning

All equipment connected to the M-Bus must have double or reinforced insulation from mains to prevent the risk of electric shock.

Caution

Do not exceed the maximum cable length of 1000 m.

Antenna connection

Stub antenna

For CMe2100 G3, a stub antenna is included when buying the product. Use the antenna by connecting it to the SMA connector.

Note

If the device is mounted inside of a metal cabinet, or if the signal strength is insufficient (3 or less), an external antenna should be used instead of the stub antenna.

External antenna

For CMe2100 LTE, and CMe2100 G3 with insufficient signal strength, an external antenna should be connected to the SMA connector. External antennas are ordered separately. Please visit Elvaco Accessories to find an antenna option suitable for the intended use case.

Caution

The product should be connected to the antenna when the wiring of the antenna cable is done. Otherwise, the SMA connection can be damaged.

Note

Do not mount the antenna inside a metallic cabinet. Doing so can affect antenna performance drastically.

Note

Do not mount the antenna close to the M-Bus 2-wire bus.

CMe2100 IR interface

By using the IR interface, CMe2100 can communicate with Elvaco M-Bus Masters and Wireless M-Bus Receivers (CMeX Series) as well as ABB electricity meters without using any cables. Mount the CMe2100 next to the other device, with the IR interfaces of the two products facing each other. Before attempting to use the IR interface, make sure to remove the IR shield.

USB master connector

The product is equipped with a USB master port, which will be used for upcoming product features.

Warning

All equipment connected to the USB port must have double or reinforced insulation from mains to prevent the risk of electric shock.

Caution

Do not use the USB master connector to connect the product to a computer. For that purpose, use the USB slave connector.

USB slave connector

The product is equipped with a USB slave port, which will be used for upcoming product features.

Quick start-up using default settings

As soon as the CMe2100/CMi2110/CMe2130 has been mounted, powered up, and meters have been connected, you can quickly get the product started by running the install command and setting an e-mail Push Report recipient. After doing so, the CMe2100/CMi2110/CMe2130 will:

  • Read all installed meters once every hour, using a baud rate of 2400 bit/s.

  • Deliver an e-mail Push Report at 00:00 each day.

To get the product started, use these default settings:

  • To set the e-mail recipient of the daily Push report, send the following command to the CMe2100/CMi2110/CMe2130. The product will respond with an SMS confirming that the recipient has been set.

    qset email [recipient]

  • To start the installation of the meters send the following command to the CMe2100/CMi2110/CMe2130. The product will respond with an SMS confirming that the installation has started, and an additional SMS when it has been completed.
