Elvaco Play Operation
Elvaco Play simplifies the management of metering installations by automating data collection, communication, and device handling. The system reduces the need for manual configuration while ensuring reliable and efficient delivery of meter data.

For wireless M-Bus installations, Elvaco Play automatically manages communication between meters and gateways. There is no need to manually optimize radio settings or assign meters to specific gateways. The system continuously evaluates signal quality and assigns each meter to the a suitable gateway.
Gateways listen for wireless M-Bus telegrams at scheduled intervals and transmit the collected data to Elvaco Play. By default, mains-powered gateways can collect meter data continuously. In contrast, battery-powered gateways operate on scheduled intervals to conserve energy. By default, battery-powered gateways can collect meter data at the following intervals:

Note
If you have devices sending data other times than specified default intervals above for battery-driven Elvaco Edges, please contact Elvaco Support to get help in obtaining values from your meters.
Meters must be assigned to the correct gateway by the user, as automatic assignment is not applied. Each gateway is responsible for communicating with its connected meters and forwarding the data to Elvaco Play. This setup provides full control over wired installations while maintaining the same data handling and export capabilities as wireless systems.
Gateways do a wired readout at scheduled intervals and transmit collected data to Elvaco Play. By default:

Meter data reporting in Elvaco Play is configured at the organizational level rather than per gateway. This means that the connector to the receiving system is set up once for the entire organization.
As a result, any new meters added to the same organization will automatically start reporting data to the configured receiving system without requiring additional connector configuration. This simplifies deployment and scaling of metering installations while ensuring a consistent integration setup across all devices.
