Elvaco-work order (LoRa)

To ensure a smooth and efficient commissioning of your LoRaWAN meters and sensors into the Elvaco Evo system, please follow the steps below and complete the corresponding work order.

This guide explains what information we need and how to complete the work order, which is divided into two main stages: Registration (Step 1) and Installation (Step 2).

1. Prerequisites: Network Settings for the Gateway

Before submitting the work order, your local network administrator must ensure that your Elvaco LoRaWAN Gateway can communicate with our Network Server and allow for remote management.

ActionDetails
Enable Meter Data Transmission

Europe: Authorize communication to lora-eu1.elvaco.com on UDP port 1700.

North America: Authorize communication to lora-us1.elvaco.com on UDP port 1700.

Enable Elvaco Remote HandlingAuthorize the following ports for remote management and updates: 5694 (bootstrap), 5684 (remote device management), and 5673 (Firmware-over-the-air/FOTA).

2. Completing the Work Order

The work order is structured into several tabs (Introduction, Gateway, Meter) and requires information for both Registration (Step 1) and Installation (Step 2).

Step 1: Registration of Gateway and Meters (Mandatory for Plug and Play)

This step must be completed to register your gateway, meters, and sensors on our LoRaWAN Network Server (LNS), enabling them to connect seamlessly to our system. This is crucial for a plug-and-play installation.

A. Introduction Tab

Start by filling in the necessary project details:

  • Customer: Your company or project name.
  • LoRaWAN Frequency: The specific LoRaWAN frequency used in your region (e.g., EU868, US915).

B. Gateway Tab

This information registers your gateway on our network server.

  • Gateway EUI64: The unique 64-bit identifier for your LoRaWAN gateway device.

C. Meter Tab (Registration)

This section provides the unique network identifiers for each device. Please fill in only the columns marked 'Register devices' here.

FieldDescriptionMandatory/Condition
Device EUI64 (MCM or Sensor)The unique 64-bit identifier for your LoRaWAN device (meter/sensor).Mandatory (Green)
Application KeyThe key used for activation.Required for Elsys LoRaWAN sensors (Yellow). NOT required for Elvaco LoRaWAN Modules (CMi41XX).

Once the work order is submitted with the registration data (Step 1), our system will pre-populate the system with Over-the-air-activation (OTAA) credentials, ensuring your devices can connect automatically when installed on-site. This significantly speeds up the commissioning process.

Step 2: Installation and Linking of Meters to Facility

This step links the registered devices to a specific facility and location in the Elvaco Evo system, which is required for data visualization and system structure.

C. Meter Tab (Installation)

Complete the columns in this section that are marked 'Install Meters/Sensors' for each meter or sensor to link its device data to a physical location (facility registration).

FieldDescriptionMandatory/Condition
Serial No (Meter or Sensor)The serial number of the physical meter or sensor.Mandatory (Green)
FacilityA unique identifier you assign to the specific meter/data point in your system (e.g., Heat Meter Apt 101).Mandatory (Green)
Location DataFields like Address, Postal code, City, and Country are necessary for accurate geographical assignment and system structure.Mandatory (Green)
Additional InformationFields such as Region, Latitude, Longitude, Area1, Apartment, Floor level, etc., for enhanced organization and management.Optional (Grey)

::: Special Note When working with Elvaco or Elsys sensors, the Device EUI64 must be inserted into the Serial No (Meter or Sensor) field in the Install section, in addition to its use in the Registration section. :::
